Usingtheremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeatures
Theremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeaturesareintegratedintheIntegratedManagement
ModuleII(IMM2).
Theremotepresencefeatureprovidesthefollowingfunctions:
Remotelyviewingvideowithgraphicsresolutionsupto1600x1200at75Hz,regardlessofthesystem
state
Remotelyaccessingtheserver,usingthekeyboardandmousefromaremoteclient
MappingtheCDorDVDdrive,andUSBflashdriveonaremoteclient,andmappingISOimagefilesas
virtualdrivesthatareavailableforusebytheserver
Theblue-screencapturefeaturecapturesthevideodisplaycontentsbeforetheIMM2restartsthe
serverwhentheIMM2detectsanoperating-systemhangcondition.Asystemadministratorcanusethe
blue-screencapturetoassistindeterminingthecauseofthehangcondition.
ObtainingtheIMM2hostname
IfyouareloggingontotheIMM2forthefirsttimeafterinstallation,theIMM2defaultstoDHCP.IfaDHCP
serverisnotavailable,theIMM2usesastaticIPaddressof192.168.70.125.ThedefaultIPv4hostnameis
“IMM-”(plusthelast12charactersontheIMM2MACaddress).Thedefaulthostnamealsocomesonthe
IMM2networkaccesstag,whichisattachedtothepowersupplyontherearoftheserver.Youcangetthe
hostnamewithoutstartingtheserver.
TheIPv6link-localaddress(LLA)isderivedfromtheIMM2defaulthostname.Toderivethelink-local
address,dothefollowing:
Step1.Takethelast12charactersontheIMM2MACaddress(forexample,5CF3FC5EAAD0).
Step2.Separatethenumberintopairsofhexadecimalcharacters(forexample,5C:F3:FC:5E:AA:D0).
Step3.Separatethefirstsixandlastsixhexadecimalcharacters.
Step4.Add“FF”and“FE”inthemiddleofthe12characters(forexample,5CF3FCFFFE5EAAD0).
Step5.Convertthefirstpairofhexadecimalcharacterstobinary(forexample,5=0101,C=1100,which
resultsin01011100F3FCFFFE5EAAD0).
Step6.Fliptheseventhbinarycharacterfromleft(0to1or1to0),whichresultsin01011110F3FFFE
5EAAD0.
Step7.Convertthebinarybacktohexadecimal(forexample,5EF3FCFFFE5EAAD0).
ObtainingtheIPaddressfortheIMM2
ToaccesstheWebinterfacetousetheremotepresencefeature,youneedtheIPaddressorhostnameof
theIMM2.YoucanobtaintheIMM2IPaddressthroughtheSetupUtilityandyoucanobtaintheIMM2host
namefromtheIMM2networkaccesstag.TheservercomeswithadefaultIPaddress(192.168.70.125)for
theIMM2.
