Ifyousetonlyapower-onpassword,youmusttypethepower-onpasswordtocompletethesystemstartup
andtohaveaccesstothefullSetupUtilitymenu.
Anadministratorpasswordisintendedtobeusedbyasystemadministrator;itlimitsaccesstothefullSetup
Utilitymenu.Ifyousetonlyanadministratorpassword,youdonothavetotypeapasswordtocompletethe
systemstartup,butyoumusttypetheadministratorpasswordtoaccesstheSetupUtilitymenu.
Ifyousetapower-onpasswordforauserandanadministratorpasswordforasystemadministrator,you
musttypethepower-onpasswordtocompletethesystemstartup.Asystemadministratorwhotypesthe
administratorpasswordhasaccesstothefullSetupUtilitymenu;thesystemadministratorcangivetheuser
authoritytoset,change,anddeletethepower-onpassword.Auserwhotypesthepower-onpasswordhas
accesstoonlythelimitedSetupUtilitymenu;theusercanset,change,anddeletethepower-onpassword,
ifthesystemadministratorhasgiventheuserthatauthority.
Power-onpassword
Ifapower-onpasswordisset,whenyouturnontheserver,youmusttypethepower-onpasswordto
completethesystemstartup.Youcanuseanycombinationof6-20printableASCIIcharactersforthe
password.
Whenapower-onpasswordisset,youcanenabletheUnattendedStartmode,inwhichthekeyboardand
mouseremainlockedbuttheoperatingsystemcanstart.Youcanunlockthekeyboardandmouseby
typingthepower-onpassword.
Ifyouforgetthepower-onpassword,youcanregainaccesstotheserverinanyofthefollowingways:
•Ifanadministratorpasswordisset,typetheadministratorpasswordatthepasswordprompt.Startthe
SetupUtilityandresetthepower-onpassword.
Attention:Ifyousetanadministratorpasswordandthenforgetit,thereisnowaytochange,override,or
removeit.Youmustreplacethesystemboard.
•Removethebatteryfromtheserver,wait30seconds,andthenreinstallit.
•Changethepositionofthepower-onpasswordswitchbyenablingswitch2ofthesystemboardswitch
block(SW1)tobypassthepasswordcheck(see“System-boardswitchesandjumpers”onpage22
formoreinformation).
Attention:Beforeyouchangeanyswitchsettingsormoveanyjumpers,turnofftheserver;then,
disconnectallpowercordsandexternalcables.Forthesafetyinformation,see“Safety”onpagev
.Do
notchangesettingsormovejumpersonanysystem-boardswitchorjumperblocksthatarenotshown
inthisdocument.
ThedefaultpositionforallswitchesontheswitchblockSW1isOff.
Whiletheserveristurnedoff,moveswitch2oftheswitchblockSW1totheOnpositiontoenablethe
power-onpasswordoverride.YoucanthenstarttheSetupUtilityandresetthepower-onpassword.You
donothavetoreturntheswitchtothepreviousposition.
Thepower-onpasswordoverrideswitchdoesnotaffecttheadministratorpassword.
Administratorpassword
Ifanadministratorpasswordisset,youmusttypetheadministratorpasswordforaccesstothefullSetup
Utilitymenu.Youcanuseanycombinationof6-20printableASCIIcharactersforthepassword.
Attention:Ifyousetanadministratorpasswordandthenforgetit,thereisnowaytochange,override,
