DSAPrebootincludesdiagnosticroutinesthatwouldbedisruptivetorunwithintheoperating-system
environment(suchasresettingdevices).Ithasagraphicaluserinterfacethatyoucanusetospecifywhich
diagnosticstorunandtoviewthediagnosticanddatacollectionresults.
DSAPrebootprovidesdiagnosticsforthefollowingsystemcomponents,iftheyareinstalled:
•EmulexEthernetcontroller
•Opticaldevices(CDorDVD)
•Tapedrives(SCSI,SAS,orSATA)
•Memory
•Microprocessor
•Checkpointpanel
•I2Cbus
•SASandSATAdrives
Ifyouareabletorestarttheserverorifyouneedcomprehensivediagnostics,useDSAPreboot.

Note:TheDSAmemorytestmighttakeupto30minutestofinish.Iftheproblemisnotamemoryproblem,
skipthememorytest.
ToruntheDSAPrebootdiagnosticprogram,dothefollowing:
Step1.Iftheserverisrunning,turnofftheserverandallattacheddevices.
Step2.Turnonallattacheddevices;then,turnontheserver.
Step3.Whentheprompt<F2>Diagnosticsisdisplayed,pressF2.
Note:TheDSAPrebootdiagnosticprogrammightappeartobeunresponsiveforanunusual
lengthoftimewhenyoustarttheprogram.Thisisnormalsymptomwhiletheprogramloads.The
loadingprocessmighttakeupto10minutes.
Step4.Optionally,selectQuittoDSAtoexitfromthestand-alonememorydiagnosticprogram.
Note:Afteryouexitthestand-alonememorydiagnosticenvironment,youmustrestarttheserver
toaccessthestand-alonememorydiagnosticenvironmentagain.
Step5.Typeguitodisplaythegraphicaluserinterface,ortypecmdtodisplaytheDSAinteractivemenu.
Step6.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentoselectthediagnosticteststorun.
Ifthediagnosticprogramdoesnotdetectanyhardwareerrorsbuttheproblemremainsduringnormalserver
operation,thediagnosticprogramerrormightbethecause.Ifyoususpectadiagnosticprogramerror,
seetheinformationthatcomeswithyourprogram.
