Features and Applications 4
This chapter offers descriptions of system features and applications that are
available to enhance the use of your system. System features make it possible to
customize the system to overall business needs, to the requirements of groups
within your organization, and to the day-to-day job functions of individuals.
Applications provide special functions for specific business needs and work hand-
in-hand with system features.
NOTE:
Release 6.0 and later systems (Hybrid/PBX mode only) support private
connections between MERLIN LEGEND Communications Systems and
DEFINITY Enterprise Communications Server (ECS) or DEFINITY
ProLogix Solutions systems by using private networks or the public
switched telephone network. This aspect of the system is not covered in
this guide. For complete information, see the
Network Reference.
The goal of this chapter is to help you assess system features and applications
and decide which are best for your organization’s needs as they change. Although
features and applications are set up for you at installation, when you add a new
user to the system, for example, you may want to consult this chapter for an
overview of the feature- and application-related decisions you need to make.
This section provides only an overview of the features. For detailed information,
especially about important considerations and feature interactions, refer to the
Feature Reference.
