MacDon 5000 - Closing Drive Shields; Greasing the Windrower

DRIVE SHIELDS
The left and right side drive shields, in the open
position, rest in a hinge "pack er' to prevent them
from falling. To cl ose drive shie l ds , lift up on shield
to clea r hinge pocket at (Fl, then lower shield and
secu re with rubber lat ch.
G REASING THE WINDROW ER
See "Recommended Lubricants" in this section for
recommended gr eases .
The following greasing points are m arked on the
mach i ne by decals showing a grease gun (A) , and
grease interval (6) in hours of operation . Log your
hours of operation and use the "Maintenance
Check l ist" provided to keep a record of schedu le d
mai n tenance.
Procedure:

SAMP LE GREASE DECAL
1.
Wipe grease fitting with a clean cloth before greasing, to avoid injecting dirt and grit.
2. Inject grease through fitting with grease gun until grease overflows fitting, except where no t ed .
3. leave excess grease on fitting to keep out dirt.
4. Rep l ace any loose or br oken fittings im m ed i ately .
5. If fitti ng wi ll not take grease , remove and clea n thoro u ghly . Also clean lub rican t passageway. Replace fitt i ng
if necessary.
