AUGER AND AUGER DRIVE (continued)
Auger Drive Chain Lubrication
Lubricate chain (A) daily with a li ght we ight oil
(SAE 30) .
Auger Drive Chain Tension
To tighten auger drive chain:
1.
loosen idler sprock et mounting belli (K) .
2. Usi ng a punch or screwdriver in pry holes ( L) ,
move sprocket
up ward until deflection at (M)
is 1/4 inch (6 mm).
3. Tighten
bolt (K) .
Auger Drive Belt Tension
IMPORTANT: To prolong drive life, de:> not ove r-
tighten belt. Be lt slippage is used to protect the
auger in an overload si tua ti on.
NOTE: Minor belt tension adjustments may be
made without affecting chain tension.
Fo r major
adjustments, like after repositioning reE~1 or auger,
adjust chain tension before belt tensicm.
To adjust auger drive belt tension:
1.
loosen nuts (P) one or two turns.
2. Back off
jam nut ( R) , then turn nut (S) to
adjust hook
bolt until a force of:
NEVI BELT - 20 Ibs. (80 N)
USED BELT - 12 1bs . (55 N)
deflects belt' /4 in. (6 m m) at mid ··s pan.
3. Tighten jam nut (R) against nut (S) to secure
the position, then tighten nuts (P).
4. Ae-adJust tension
of a new belt after about 5
hou
rs of operation to used belt spe!cifications.
