5.6 operAtIon
1. On engine, turn ignition key clockwise to “On”
position.
2. Check the operator console panel and make sure
the conveyor switch (M) is in the “Off” position and
the conveyor speed (L) is turned down to slow.
3. Check to make sure that the parking brake
(E-stop) button (J) is fully down and parking light
(H) is “on”. The brakes are automatically applied
when the engine is turned off.
4. Set the drive control stick (K) in neutral (center).
Check if engine kill switch (G) is reset.
5. For safe operation, engine will not start if the drive
control stick (K) is not in neutral, engine kill switch
(G) is not reset, or if the conveyor switch (M) is in
the “On” position.
6. Start engine and toggle throttle switch (P) to run at
a high idle or 1100 rpm for approximately 5 minutes
to warm up. Longer warm up may be needed in
colder temperatures.
7. After the warm-up period, increase engine speed
to 1/2 throttle.
8. Pull E-stop button (J) to middle position.
9. In this scenario, Rear brakes are still applied but
grade, slope and hydraulic extension cylinders can
be extended and retracted. At least 2000 rpm is
needed to move cylinders. Full throttle is needed
for full cylinder speed. Conveyor belt can also be
moved.
10. On dual side machine, toggle conveyor direction
switch (E) to select side for material discharge
and grade, slope and hydraulic extension cylinder
control.
11. Sound horn (F) to alert everyone near machine.
12. Toggle throttle switch (P) to increase engine speed
to full . Do not start conveyor yet.
13. Toggle switch (B) to adjust strike off blade grade.
14. Toggle switch (C) to adjust strike off blade slope.
15. If provided, toggle switch (D) to extend and retract
optional hydraulic blade extension.
16. If provided, toggle switch (A) to operate optional
hydraulic push roller.
17. To pave, move gear shift lever forward to select
low gear. This selection provides low speed, high
power combination.
18. To travel, move gear shift lever backward to select
high gear. This selection provides high speed, low
power combination. Do not pave in this setting.
19. Set dump truck tailgate chain to restrict tailgate
opening to 12-18 inches, depending on material.
Have dump truck back up until rear tires are in
contact with push rollers.
20. Toggle Switch (M) to turn on conveyor belt. Rotate
knob (L) to increase conveyor speed to less than
half.
21. Open the tailgate and start a head of material in
front of the strike-off blade. Wait till the material
height is approximately 3/4 of blade height.
22. Pull E-stop button (J) all the way up for about 5
seconds then release. This will release parking
brakes. Parking light (H) will go off. Releasing
E-stop button, after the parking light is turned “off”,
