GeneralInformation
Enginesinstorage30daysorlongerrequirethefollowing
procedures:
•Maintaina“Full”fueltankwiththeadditionofdieselfuel
stabilizertominimizemicrobialgrowthwithinthefuel
system.Runenginelongenoughtoallowthefuelstabilizer
toentertheentirefuelsystem.Iftheengineisutilizedina
mobileapplication,drivevehicletomixthestabilizerinthe
fueltank.
•Beforestoragereplaceenginefuellter(s)anddrainall
waterseparatorsofanywater.
•Every30daysorless,runengineuntilfulloperating
temperaturehasbeenmaintained.Foranenginewithless
than750miles,runtheenginetooperatingtemperature
everytimetheengineisstarted.Runenginesmoothly
throughentireoperatingrpmrange.IftheHighExhaust
SystemTemperature(HEST)lightison,waituntilitturns
off.IftheDieselParticulateFilter(DPF)lightison,doa
parkedregeneration.
•Beforestorage,changetheengineoilandlterwith
theappropriateengineoilforconditionstheenginewill
experienceduringstorage.
•Checkandreplacetheairlterelementandcoverair
intakeductstopreventmoistureanddebrisintrusionduring
storage.
•Coververticalexhauststack.
•Checkstate-of-chargeeyeinbatteries.Ifanyofthe
batterieshasadarkstate-of-chargeindication,chargeall
batteries.Ifthebatteryeyechargeindicatorsofallbatteries
aregreen,batteriesarecharged.Ifbatteriesdonothave
anindicatoreye,re-chargeifbelow12.6volts.Checkthe
batterychargeandrechargeifneeded.Removebatteries
andstoreinanareatoprotectfromfreezingifapplicable.If
batteryremovalisnotrequired(warmclimate),maintainthe
batterychargeevery30days.
•Testthecoolingsystem,additivelevelsandcoolantfreeze
protection.Coolantfreezeprotectionmustbesetbelowthe
coldestanticipatedtemperatureduringstorage.
