HOTWEATHEROPERATION
1.Beforeoperatingtheengineabove32°F(0°C),checkor
servicethefollowing:
•Fullbatterycharge
•Conditionofotherelectricalequipment
•Coolingsystemhosesforleaks
•Correctcoolantandcoolingsystemlevel
2.Attheendofeachdailyoperationdothefollowing:
•Fillthefueltankwithcorrectfuel.
•Drainwaterfromthefuellterhousing.
•Checkoillevel.
•Cleanexternalsurfacesoftheengineandaccessories
topreventdirtbuildup.
•Cleanoutsideandinbetweenradiatorstopreventdirt
buildup.
ENGINESHUTDOWN
Beforeshuttingdownanenginethathasreachedoperating
temperature,idletheenginefor30seconds,allowingthehottest
enginecomponentstodissipatesomeoftheirinternalheat.
•Idlingisrecommended,ifanenginehasbeenrunningat
maximumhorsepower.
ENGINEWARNINGPROTECTIONSYSTEM(EWPS)
TheEngineWarningProtectionSystem(EWPS)warnsthe
operatorofengineconditionsthatcandamagetheengine.
Optionalengineshutdownisavailableandisactivatedifoneor
morecriticalconditionsaredetected.
TheStandardWarningSystemisthebasesysteminwhich
allenginesareequipped.Ifoneofthesefaultsaredetected,
theECMwillilluminatetheAmberWarningLamp(AWL),seta
correspondingDiagnosticTroubleCode(DTC),andde-ratethe
engine.
StandardWarning
•Theenginewillnotshutdownandwillwarnofanengine
fault.
•RPM-Engineover-speedwarning.
•EngineCoolantT emperature(ECT)-Engineoverheat
warning.
