HOTWEATHEROPERATION
1.Beforeoperatingtheengineabove32°F(0°C),checkor
servicethefollowing:
Fullbatterycharge
Conditionofotherelectricalequipment
Coolingsystemhosesforleaks
Correctcoolantandcoolingsystemlevel
2.Attheendofeachdailyoperationdothefollowing:
Fillthefueltankwithcorrectfuel.
Drainwaterfromthefuellterhousing.
Checkoillevel.
Cleanexternalsurfacesoftheengineandaccessories
topreventdirtbuildup.
Cleanoutsideandinbetweenradiatorstopreventdirt
buildup.
ENGINESHUTDOWN
Beforeshuttingdownanenginethathasreachedoperating
temperature,idletheenginefor30seconds,allowingthehottest
enginecomponentstodissipatesomeoftheirinternalheat.
Idlingisrecommended,ifanenginehasbeenrunningat
maximumhorsepower.
ENGINEWARNINGPROTECTIONSYSTEM(EWPS)
TheEngineWarningProtectionSystem(EWPS)warnsthe
operatorofengineconditionsthatcandamagetheengine.
Optionalengineshutdownisavailableandisactivatedifoneor
morecriticalconditionsaredetected.
TheStandardWarningSystemisthebasesysteminwhich
allenginesareequipped.Ifoneofthesefaultsaredetected,
theECMwillilluminatetheAmberWarningLamp(AWL),seta
correspondingDiagnosticTroubleCode(DTC),andde-ratethe
engine.
StandardWarning
Theenginewillnotshutdownandwillwarnofanengine
fault.
RPM-Engineover-speedwarning.
EngineCoolantT emperature(ECT)-Engineoverheat
warning.
