2. DEVICE CHARACTERISTICS
2.1.
The x2 line devices are a range of electrochemical systems for the surface nishing of stainless steel parts.
These devices have been designed and manufactured to perform dierent types of processing:
• Pickling (or cleaning), to remove oxides and burn marks that normally form after welding and cutting operations. In particular,
this process protects the treated areas from corrosion and wear over time.
• Polishing, to make the matt areas of the welds smoother and brighter.
• Electrochemical marking (optional), which allows the user to indelibly imprint any logo or writing on a steel surface.
The main tool installed on the appliance is the pickling/polishing torch which is equipped with a built-in harmful fume abatement
system. This mechanism in the AIR, POWER and SURFACE models consists of a powerful air ow conveyed to the electrode
(for this reason it is necessary to connect the device to an external compressed air circuit), while in the PRO model
the nal part of the torch has special slits that suck the fumes from the processing areas (in this case the device is already
equipped with an extraction motor suitable for this function).
The device also has a tank to hold the electrolyte solution and a pump that pushes the liquid towards the tip of the electrode.
The pump is fully user-adjustable and can function dynamically, manually or automatically.
Special care must be taken when using these appliances on particularly delicate steel surfaces (e.g. AISI 430),
as permanent white halos may form during processing.

NITTY-GRITTY is not liable for loss or damage caused by the device if used outside the elds of application
mentioned above.
X2 line devices are designed for industrial applications, so their use in the home is strictly prohibited.
To facilitate transport, all x2 line devices are equipped with a handle at the top. See chapter 14 for detailed information on the
size and weight of the device.
The appliance must be kept in a sheltered and moisture-free place to protect its internal electrical components.
If it is necessary to send the device to NITTY-GRITTY Customer Service for repair, the customer must completely
empty the electrolyte solution from the tank before shipping. This operation can be carried out simply by
inverting the device (after removing the tank cap) and carefully pouring all the liquid into an appropriate acid-
resistant container.
NITTY-GRITTY is not liable for any loss or damage to persons or property due to the leakage of electrolyte
solution from the tank during packing operations and shipping to service centres.
The handle is designed exclusively for carrying the device by hand.
Do not use it as a hook-up point for the forks of forklifts or other lifting machinery.
