Starting the Melter
Before starting the melter for the first time, confirm that the
melter is fully installed including any required inputs and outputs, gun
drivers, pattern controllers, or timers.
melter's operating parameters are set up to support the
current manufacturing process.
perform the first‐time startup procedure provided below to ensure a
safe initial startup
Refer to Section 3, Installation, if any of the items listed above are
not complete.
WARNING! Risk of burns. First startup of the unit can result in super steam
being created by the hot oil that is left in the manifold during the
manufacturing testing process. Before performing the first startup of the
melter, perform the actions under To start the melter for the first time after
installation.
To start the melter for the first time after installation
NOTE: This procedure is applicable only to the first startup of the melter
after installation. Refer to the next procedure, To start the melter, for the
routine startup procedure.
1. Ensure that the tank is filled. Refer to Filling the Tank earlier in this
section.
2. Ensure that the pressure control valve screw is turned fully
counterclockwise (at or near the valve's lowest pressure setting). Refer to
Adjusting the Pressure Control Valve later in this section as needed.
3. Proceed to the next procedure, To start the melter.
