8.2 Returning the light source for repair
Olympus is not liable for any injury or damage which occurs
as a result of repairs attempted by non-Olympus personnel.
Before returning the light source for repair contact Olympus. With the CLV-S40
include a description of the malfunction or damage and the name and telephone
number of the individual at your location who is most familiar with the problem.
Also include a repair purchase order.
If a light source accessory (foot holder, power cord,
connector cover holder, instruction manual) needs to be
replaced, contact Olympus to purchase a new one.
Irregularity

Possible cause Solution
Automatic
brightness does
not work.
Brightness control switch
adjusted incorrectly.
Adjust as required.
The standby mode is selected. Set the standby mode OFF.
Video system is not connected. Connect the video system.
Light control cable or BNC
cable is not correctly
connected.
Correctly connect the light control
cable or BNC cable.
Cables unnecessary for the
video system are connected to
the rear panel.
Remove the unnecessary cables.
Two or more video systems are
simultaneously connected.
Remove the unnecessary video
system and connect only one
video system.
Field of view is
too dark or too
bright.
Brightness control switch
adjusted incorrectly.
Adjust as required.
The standby mode is selected. Turn the standby mode OFF.
Manual brightness mode is
selected.
Select the auto brightness mode.
Video system is not connected. Connect the video system.
Xenon lamp mounted
incorrectly.
Mount correctly.
