Chapter 6 Lamp Replacement
VISERA XENON LIGHT SOURCE CLV-S40
If the lamp was previously ignited, the inside of the lamp access cover will be
extremely hot. Take out the lamp after allowing sufficient time for the lamp and
heatsink to be cooled.
6.1 When to replace the lamp
Although the lamp brightness may differ depending on the part being observed,
the lamp should be replaced before its life expires if it appears darker than when
it was first used.
Replacement of the main lamp (xenon)
Store the hexagon wrench securely on the back side of the
lamp access cover. If the wrench falls inside the light source,
immediately turn the light source OFF, disconnect the power
cord and contact Olympus. If the light source is used while
the wrench is detached inside it, electric shock can result.
When replacing the lamp, use a clean lint-free cloth to wipe
off residual heat compound from the heat sink. If the heat
compound is not wiped off completely, the heat radiation
efficiency will be impaired and the lamp life will be
significantly shortened.
Match the lamp and heat sink pin positions, then bolt them
together tightly.
Install the heat sink securely in the light source and
tighten the heat sink knobs firmly.
To replace the main lamp, follow the procedure below. Use xenon lamp MD-631.
To order a new lamp, contact Olympus.
1. Turn the light source OFF, and disconnect the power cord.
2. Turn the lamp cover knob (a) 90° counterclockwise to open the lamp access
cover (see Figure 6.2). Take out the hexagon wrench (see Figure 6.3).
