Power Supply System
The power supply system for the CPU Rack of the NX-series NX502 CPU Unit consists of two power
supply lines: one for Unit power and other for I/O power. Therefore, you need to prepare two separate
external power supplies for them.
Unit power is supplied from the power supply terminals of the CPU Unit to the CPU Unit, NX Units,
and X Bus Units.
You may need additional power supply Units for NX Unit power for the NX Unit connected to the right
side of the CPU Unit or I/O power according to the total power consumption or the total current con-
sumption of NX Units on the CPU Rack.
Design the power supply system for the CPU Rack of the NX-series NX502 CPU Unit as below.
• Calculate the NX Unit power consumption to determine NX Unit power supply specifications, includ-
ing whether to add additional power supply Units or not.
• Calculate the I/O power current consumption and voltage drop to determine I/O power supply speci-
fications, including whether to add additional power supply Units or not.
The X Bus Unit power supply for the X Bus Unit connected to the left side of the CPU Unit is supplied
directly from the Unit power supplied to the CPU Unit. Therefore, external power supply is not re-
quired.

Unit Power Supply and I/O Power Supply
This section provides details on Unit power supply and I/O power supply.
Unit Power Supply
Unit power is supplied from the power supply terminals of the CPU Unit to the CPU Unit, NX Units,
and X Bus Units.
NX Unit power is supplied to the internal circuits of each NX Unit on the CPU Rack of the NX502 CPU
Unit.
The NX Unit power is supplied via the internal power supply circuit from the Unit power supply termi-
nals of the CPU Unit or those of an Additional NX Unit Power Supply Unit.
Up to 10 W of NX Unit power can be delivered to NX Units via the NX bus connectors.
Up to 50 W of X Bus Unit power can be delivered directly from the Unit power supplied to the CPU
Unit.
