NX-series Units Connectable
The CPU Unit can be connected with up to 63 NX Units including NX-series Digital I/O Units, Ana-
log I/O Units, and other I/O Units.
l
Battery-free Operation
The following data (other than the clock data) is retained in the built-in non-volatile memory.
• User program
•
Set values
• Variables retained during power interruption
• Event logs
The retention period for the clock data is limited
*1
.
When the clock data is not needed or the equipment’s power OFF time is shorter than the clock
data retention period, the battery-free operation is possible and man-hours for battery replacement
can be reduced.
If you turn OFF the power supply to the equipment for a longer period of time than the clock data
retention period, mount a battery which is sold separately.
*1. Approximately 10 days at an ambient temperature of 40°C. Refer to 3-1-6 Battery on page 3-10 for detail.
l
Standard-feature SD Memory Card Slot
You can access an SD Memory Card that is mounted in the CPU Unit from the user program.
l
Highly Reliable Hardware
The NX-series Controllers provide the hardware reliability and RAS functions that you expect of a
PLC.

l
Integrated Sequence Control and Motion Control
An NX-series CPU Unit can perform both sequence control and motion control. You can simultane-
ously achieve both sequence control and multi-axes synchronized control. Sequence control, mo-
tion control, and I/O refreshing are all executed in the same control period.
The same control period is also used for the process data communications cycle for EtherCAT
. This
enables precise sequence and motion control in a fixed period with very little deviation.
l
Available with IoT Applications
All NX502 CPU Units provide a high precision global clock, database connection service, and OPC
UA server.
The global clock allows to manage information from equipment and processes throughout the fac-
tory with the same time information based on site data with high precision time information ac-
quired from gPTP compatible L2 switches.
Therefore, it is also available with IoT applications where high precision time information can be
added to the EtherCAT I/O information and controller calculation information with a CPU Unit, and
information can be provided directly to the host systems.
