Clear zones around the wheelchair user/ mobility base/ buggy are required as shown in the gure be-
low. To the front, a clear zone of 650 mm is needed when the 3-point shoulder and pelvic belt occupant
restraint is used . If only a pelvic belt is used as person restraint system the clear zone to the front
must be 950 mm. To the rear, a clear zone of 400 mm must be observed. The overall height from
oor in respect of small, female adults, a clear zone of 1200 mm is required; in respect of large,
male adults a clear zone of 1550 mm is required.
