TorestorethefactorydefaultsettingsonaPeplinkBalanceunit,performthefollowing:
ForBalancemodelswitharesetbutton:
1. LocatetheresetbuttononthePeplinkBalanceunit.
2. Withapaperclip,pressandkeeptheresetbuttonpressedforatleast10
seconds,untiltheunitrebootsitself.
ForBalance/MediaFastmodelswithanLCDmenu:
● UsethebuttonsonfrontpaneltocontroltheLCDmenutogoto
Maintenance>FactoryDefaults,andthenchooseYestoconfirm.
Afterwards,thefactorydefaultsettingswillberestored.
Allusersettingswillbelostafterrestoringthefactorydefaultsettings.Regularbackupofconfiguration
parametersisstronglyrecommended.

TheinformationinthisappendixappliesonlytosituationswherethePeplinkBalance
operatesaWANconnectionunderDHCP,StaticIP,orPPPoE.
B.1 RoutingViaNetworkAddressTranslation(NAT)
WhenthePeplinkBalanceisoperatingunderNATmode,thesourceIPaddressesof
outgoingIPpacketsaretranslatedtotheWANIPaddressofthePeplinkBalance.With
NAT,allLANdevicessharethesameWANIPaddresstoaccesstheInternet(i.e.,the
WANIPaddressofthePeplinkBalance).
OperatingthePeplinkBalanceinNATmoderequiresonlyoneWAN(Internet)IP
address.Inaddition,operatinginNATmodealsohassecurityadvantagesbecauseLAN
devicesarehiddenbehindthePeplinkBalance.Theyarenotdirectlyaccessiblefrom
theInternetandhencelessvulnerabletoattacks.
ThefollowingfigureshowsthepacketflowinNATmode:
