HealthChecksettingsforeachWANconnectioncanbeindependentlyconfiguredvia
Network>Interfaces>WAN>*Connectionname*>HealthCheckSettings.
EnableHealthCheckbyselectingPING,DNSLookup,orHTTPfromtheHealthCheckMethod
dropdownmenu.
ThissettingspecifiesthehealthcheckmethodfortheWANconnection.Thisvaluecanbe
configuredasDisabled,PING,DNSLookup,orHTTP.ThedefaultmethodisDNS
Lookup.FormobileInternetconnections,thevalueofMethodcanbeconfiguredas
DisabledorSmartCheck.
WhenDisabledischosenintheMethodfield,theWANconnectionwillalwaysbeconsideredasup.The
connectionwillNOTbetreatedasdownintheeventofIProutingerrors.
HealthCheckMethod:PING
ICMPpingpacketswillbeissuedtotesttheconnectivitywithaconfigurabletargetIPaddressorhostname.AWAN
connectionisconsideredasupifpingresponsesarereceivedfromeitheroneorbothofthepinghosts.
ThissettingspecifiesIPaddressesorhostnameswithwhichconnectivityistobetestedvia
ICMPping.IfUsefirsttwoDNSserversasPingHostsischecked,thetargetpinghost
willbethefirstDNSserverforthecorrespondingWANconnection.Reliablepinghostswith
ahighuptimeshouldbeconsidered.Bydefault,thefirsttwoDNSserversoftheWAN
connectionareusedasthepinghosts.
HealthCheckMethod:DNSLookup
DNSlookupswillbeissuedtotestconnectivitywithtargetDNSservers.TheconnectionwillbetreatedasupifDNS
responsesarereceivedfromoneorbothoftheservers,regardlessofwhethertheresultwaspositiveornegative.
