5. FIRST USE
Read the instruction manual carefully prior to operating the machine.
Prior to starting the machine, check if:
• the machine is switched off. (LED on the on/off switch is not lit)
• the power cord is disconnected
• the drip tray is inserted accurately.
• the steam and hot water valves are closed.
• the machine is placed on a water-resistant surface.
Now you can start up your machine:
5.1 Machine in use with water tank
1. Remove the cup warming tray. Take out the water tank and rinse it thoroughly.
2. Fill the water tank with fresh water decient in lime, place it back into the water tank guides and
close the cup warming tray.
3. Plug the machine into the power outlet and press the power switch (LED ring lights up). The machine
is now turned on. The display shows “Fill“. For more information, see chapter 7.2
4. Ensure that the “Flow Control“ regulator is open with at least one full turn. For more information, see

Fill mode “Fill“
Place a small container (e.g. a milk jug) under the brew group. Lift the brew lever up and the pump
will start to ll the brew boiler. Rinse the machine for at least 30 seconds until water ows out of the
brew group. When you move the brew lever down “Fill“ message should have disappeared from the
display.
5. After lling the brew boiler, the steam boiler is automatically lled with fresh water.
6. The initial lling requires a signicant amount of water. If the freshwater level in the tank drops below
a certain point, the machine will shut off electrically. In this case, you need to rell with fresh water.
7. As soon as the lling of the steam boiler is nished, you no longer hear any pump noise.
8. The machine starts heating up the boiler. The PID display shows ”Heating Up“.
You can nd out more about this in chapter 8.7.
9. As soon as the boiler temperature is shown on the display, the machine is ready for use. Place the
cups on the cup tray so that they are always preheated.
Ensure that the machine is placed on a level stable, and water resistance surface.
If the rst lling does not work, connect the machine to the xed water supply (see
chapter 5.2). After the rst lling, you can switch the machine back to the water tank
and continue to operate the machine with it. Follow the instructions in chapter 9.1.
Rinse the machine with 2 - 3 water tank llings before making the rst coffee. To do
this, allow the water run out of the brew group and the hot water pipe. More hot water
can be drawn when the machine is switched off (see chapter 9.4).
