7.5 Steam temperature
The desired steam temperature can be set in the menu item “Steam Temperature“. The factory default
steam temperature is set at 128 °C (262,4 °F). The temperature can be increased up to 132 °C (269,6°F).
We recommend a lower steam temperature at rst to familiarize yourself with foaming milk.
7.6 Preinfusion
The DRIVE offers various settings for preinfusion. In the menu item “Preinfusion“, the values for
preinfusion can be switched on “ON“ or off ”OFF“ and changed.
Some coffee roasts, particularly lighter roasts, are prone to something called channeling. Besides
properly preparing your coffee grounds (grinding, distribution, tamping), it can be helpful to use pre-
infusion in such cases. Pre-infusion involves fully saturating the coffee grounds with water before
continuing with high-pressure extraction.
There are various options for preinfusion. The „Flow Control“ (chapter 7.2) allows you to use an individual
preinfusion without interrupting the pump. If this preinfusion is not sufcient, it is also possible to
inuence the preinfusion actively (with pump activity) and/or passively (without pump activity).
1. Press the left button and the right button simultaneously, “Brew
Temperature“ appears on the display.
2. Navigate with the left button until “Preinfusion“ appears on the
display. Conrm the selection with the right button .
3. Now you can choose between “ON“ (pre-infusion on) and “OFF“ (pre-
infusion off) by pressing the left and right buttons. The selection is
conrmed after 3 seconds.
4. Now, the value for active pre-infusion (the upper value) begins to ash,
and it can be adjusted or changed within the next 3 seconds. The
selection will be conrmed after 3 seconds.
5. Now the value of the passive preinfusion (the lower value) begins to
ash, and it can be adjusted or changed within the next 3 seconds. The
selection will be conrmed after 3 seconds.
