4 Operating the ImpressionIST® 4+
4.1 Initialisation
Touch the LED touch button (section 3.5.3 Switching the ImpressionIST® 4+ on or off) to start the device.
Wait until the operating system has completely booted up.
There are different ways to work with the ImpressionIST® 4+. These depend on the available hardware and
software (may require additional licenses). Your sales representative will be happy to advise you on the best
solution for you.
The ImpressionIST® 4+ can be controlled via the following input devices:
Directly via the control computer of the ImpressionIST® 4+ using a touch monitor or monitor with mouse
and keyboard.
Via an additional Windows PC, which is connected to the ImpressionIST® 4+ via the local network.
Via an iPad which is connected to the ImpressionIST® 4+ via the local network.
Preferably, the control via the Rodenstock ecosystem CNXT is recommended in order to be able to use the
greatest possible flexibility in the data management of the Rodenstock measuring and consulting tools (may
require additional license). A Windows and an iOS application are available for this purpose.
Alternatively, the ImpressionIST4 can be controlled via the free "ImpressionIST" application, which is also
available for Windows and iOS.
You can start a measurement on the ImpressionIST® 4+ from your preferred application.
For a quick guide on how to start a measurement from the CNXT® application, please refer to section 6.1.
4.2 Recording
4.2.1 Preparation before recording
What you should consider before measuring:
To ensure exact determination of the data, the spectacle frame must be precisely adjusted before the
exposure. All determined data, the monocular pupil distance, the individual parameters and centering
dimensions refer to the frame and are later included in the optimization of the lenses. If the frame is
subsequently changed again, the individual data determined at the time of measurement would differ
from those in the current wearing situation. The quality and comfort of your customer's vision could
suffer as a result.
The measurement must be performed with anatomically pre-fitted spectacle frame!
Tips for special frame types can be found in the appendix section 6.6
Does the frame sit at the correct corneal vertex distance on your client's nose?
Is the upper frame edge parallel to the pupils and/or eyebrows?
Does the frame fit so that it does not rest on the cheeks or against the eyebrows?
Is the frame free of unwanted steps or twists?
Be sure to perform the measurement without prescription lenses, otherwise a prismatic deflection will
occur when looking through the prescription lens. The pupil distance changes and errors occur in the PD
measurement.
To avoid interfering reflections, remove the support glasses.
