5 Maintenance and Troubleshooting
5.1 Cleaning
− Keep the device surface free of dust.
− Disconnect the device from the power supply before cleaning.
− Use only commercially available glass or window cleaning agent to clean the glass surfaces.
− Only clear water should be used to clean the painted and powder-coated parts, or water with a little
washing-up liquid in the case of stubborn soiling.
− Do not spray or pour liquids directly onto the unit.
− Do not clean the glass surfaces, mirror surfaces and powder-coated sheet metal with spirit, benzine or
aggressive cleaning agents.
− Only use a fine microfiber cloth for cleaning!
5.2 FAQ
Can clients with monophthalmia be measured with
the ImpressionIST® 4+?
Clients with monophthalmia can be measured with
the ImpressionIST® 4+. The customer fixates on his
healthy eye during the measurement. In this case, the
convergence correction must be deactivated. The
automatic correction for head rotation/tilt remains
activated. This should only be deactivated if postural
defects are present.
Can clients who have prisms (strabismus) be
measured with the ImpressionIST® 4+?
In principle, clients fitted with prisms can be
measured with the ImpressionIST® 4+. The angular
refractive error has an effect on the PD. If there is no
convergence, the convergence correction must be
deactivated.
When the customer looks at himself in the mirror, he
converges because of the distance. Why is that
unimportant?
By means of the mirror, the measuring distance is
doubled and amounts to a total of approx. 1.20 m in
virtual terms. The ImpressionIST® 4+ automatically
corrects the normal convergence position of the eyes
at this distance for the view into infinity.
Why is the distance between cameras and patient not
relevant?
The distance between the ImpressionIST® 4+ and
the patient is not irrelevant. For an accurate
evaluation, the distance of the customer to the mirror
should be about an arm's length (approx. 0.60 m).
However, due to the transversal resolution, a
deviation of a few centimeters is tolerable.
At what height exactly does the camera slide have to
be, i.e. should the glasses or the face be centered?
Ask your customer to stand on the LED spot
projected by the ImpressionIST® 4+ and position the
camera carriage so that the upper camera (camera 1)
is at about eye level with your customer.
What is the customer looking at? At the root of the
nose, the tip of the nose, in the eyes?
Your client looks at the root of his nose in the mirror
image during the exposure.
What tricks are there to ensure that the customer
adopts the most natural head and body posture
possible?
If necessary, ask your customer to walk a few steps
and then stand in front of the device.
How can you tell from the recording that the customer
was looking and positioned correctly?
Make sure that the customer's eyes are positioned
roughly in the center of both images and, above all,
are clearly visible in the shot. If the image is out of
