2.3.10 Optional Cabling
Option R&S CMW-B661A, "Ethernet Switch H661A", is delivered with a separate ethernet
cable (patch cable). This patch cable must be connected if a R&S CMW500 with a SUW
Signaling Unit (option R&S CMW-B300) is used for the "Unit Test > IP Access Test
External" selftest. The selftest also requires a fixed IP address. For details, see chap-
ter 2.7.1.2, "Applications with Fixed IP Addresses", on page 33.
The connection also may be required when using the See also: as system component in
R&S CMW-RRM or R&S TS8980 test systems. For more information, see the documen-
tation provided with the products.
Plug the cable into connector 1 of the LAN SWITCH and into the LAN REMOTE connector
as shown in the following figure.
Fig. 2-1: Ethernet connection between LAN SWITCH and LAN REMOTE connectors
Provided, that the Data Application Unit (R&S CMW-B450A) is installed, it is no longer
required to connect the Ethernet patch cable between the LAN SWITCH connector 1 and
the LAN REMOTE connector when operating the See also: as protocol tester. For an
introduction, refer to the separate quick start guide, stock no. 1202.3857.62.
2.4 Maintenance
The R&S CMW500 does not require any special maintenance. Make sure that the air
vents are not obstructed. The outside of the instrument is suitably cleaned using a soft,
line-free dust cloth.
