2.7.1.2 Applications with Fixed IP Addresses
On R&S CMW500 instruments equipped with a SUW Signaling Unit (option R&S CMW-
B300) and an "Ethernet Switch H661A" (option R&S CMW-B661A), some applications
require a particular IP address. Disable DHCP and set the "IP Address" for the LAN
RMOTE network adapter as described in section Manual TCP/IP Configuration, if you
want to run one of the applications listed below.
IP address Required for...
172.22.1.3 (subnet mask 255.255.0.0) "Unit Test > IP Access Test External" selftest (requires User
(Extended) mode; see "External Tests" on page 104)
172.22.1.3 (subnet mask 255.255.0.0) Protocol testing (requires option R&S CMW-KP080) with-
out using a Data Application Unit (R&S CMW-B450A).
Provided that a Data Application Unit is installed, this set-
ting is no longer required with firmware versions V2.1.10
and later.
If no dynamic TCP/IP configuration (DHCP) is enabled, the address above is set auto-
matically during a firmware update to version V1.0.15.20 or later.
Remote control from the UCS calibration system (service feature) requires the IP address
172.29.0.3.
2.7.2 Remote Desktop Connection
"Remote Desktop" is a Windows application which can be used to access and control the
R&S CMW500 from a remote computer through a LAN connection. While the measure-
ment is running, the application window is displayed on the remote computer. The soft-
front panel to the right of the R&S CMW500 application window gives access to the basic
utility dialogs (see also Using the Soft-Front Panel and Keyboard Shortcuts).
