3. Product outline and part names
3.1 Product Details
The SPA-100 is combined with a tunable light source (TSL-570, 770, 550 or
710) manufactured by santec to create an OFDR (Optical Frequency Domain
Reflectmetry) This product measures the reflection characteristics and
transmission characteristics in optical fiber components and optical fiber
system paths. By utilizing OFDR technology, the reflection position can be
measured with high resolution and precise distance measurement can be
performed. In addition, in transmission characteristic measurement, the
coherent detection method can be used to measure with a high power
dynamic range.
The product is equipped with two measurement ports, and in the reflection
measurement mode, the reflection characteristics of two components or two
paths can be measured simultaneously. In addition, in the transmission
characteristic measurement mode, measurement port 1 is optical output and
measurement port 2 is optical input, and transmission characteristics such as
optical components connected between ports 1 and 2 can be measured.
The measurement operation is performed by automatically controlling the
tunable light source and the SPA-100 to be used in combination from software
running on a computer. For how to connect each device, see Chapter 5, and
