6.1.3 PE connection for mobile use
For mobile applications, the type of energy transfer determines how to apply ground-
ing or equipotential bonding.
The following energy transfer types can be used:
• Direct power supply, for example via a conductor rail
• Contactless energy transfer system with MOVITRANS
®
Direct power supply
In mobile systems with direct power supply, all electrical equipment such as motor, ap-
plication controller, etc., must be equipped with a ground connection (PE).
Comply with the following rules:
• Ground the unit with the shortest possible route (PE).
• Use a green/yellow grounding cable.
Ground the unit using 2 mobile contact outlets (sliding contacts) or using a trailing ca-
ble.
The following figure shows a sample mobile system with direct power supply via slid-
ing contacts:
