5.7.16 Enable and configure SNMP
Introduction
You can monitor SNMP-enabled components with the maintenance station. SNMP-enabled
components include:
● PC stations - SIEMENS Industrial PC (IPC)
● Network components
– Switches (SCALANCE X...)
– Communications processors
● Other devices
– Network adapters
– Switches
– PC stations (PCs from third parties - reduced information)
The OPC server is used for diagnostics of SNMP-enabled components. SNMP must be
enabled and configured on the components that are to be monitored with the maintenance
station.
Enabling SNMP (enabling Windows function)
Enable only the protocol or the service listed in the table.

Configuring SNMP
1. Open "Services" under Computer Management.
2. Select the item "Simple Network Management Protocol" or "SNMP Service".
3. Select the shortcut menu command Properties.
4. Open the "Security" tab.
