3.8.1 Remote access via the Web Option for OS
Remote access with Web Option for OS
The Web Option for OS enables operator control and monitoring of automated processes over
the Intranet/Internet using PCS 7.
The Web Option for OS consists of two components:
● PCS 7 Web server
Within an OS, the PCS 7 Web server is an OS client with Web server functionality.
The PCS 7 Web server can function as a "Web server" or a "Web diagnostics server".
● PCS 7 Web client
These operator stations access project data available on the Web server via the Intranet/
Internet. The PCS 7 Web client can function as a "web client" or a "web diagnostics client".
Client for process control
The following options have been approved for process control with PCS 7 Web client and PCS
7 Web diagnostics client:
● WinCCViewRT
Installed with the installation of PCS 7 Web client/PCS 7 Web diagnostics client.
● Microsoft Internet Explorer
Configurations in PCS 7 plants
The following configurations are possible when you use Web Option for OS in a PCS 7 plant:
● For an OS multiple-station system
– Configuration with PCS 7 Web server and PCS 7 Web client
● For an OS single-station system
– Configuration with PCS 7 Web server and PCS 7 Web client
– Configuration with PCS 7 Web diagnostics server and PCS 7 Web diagnostics client
