5.4.3 How to install the PCS 7 software
Introduction
The
Process Control System; SIMATIC PCS 7
DVD contains the complete software for the
PCS 7 applications. Only certain program packages must be installed depending on the PCS 7
application itself. In this phase you are supported by the PCS 7 system setup.
Licensing
You can transfer the license keys required for the program package either before or after the
PCS 7 installation. You can find information on transferring license keys in the documentation
SIMATIC; Automation License Manager
.
You can find a description of the license concept in the section "PCS 7 licenses and quantity
structures (Page 98)".
Checking the installation requirements
The PCS 7 system setup automatically checks whether the program packages needed for the
PCS 7 installation are already installed on the PC.
If program packages are missing, a message appears indicating the missing components. The
setup program is terminated after the message is confirmed . Install the missing program
packages. Then, restart the PCS 7 system setup.
Plant with Process Historian as long-term archive server
Select the following program package for the OS servers that are to export archives to a
Process Historian: OS-Server for Process Historian.
The "Process Historian Ready Component" can be installed at a later point in time on an OS
server, if it has not yet been installed on the OS server. You can find it using "User-defined
Installation" in the "Archiving and Reporting" folder.
Installing an OS server for PCS 7 Maintenance Station Basic
You can install the basic diagnostics for asset management for one OS server in a PCS 7
system without a maintenance station.
● No additional license key is required in order to use these functions.
● Select in addition the program package for this OS server: "Maintenance Station" program
package for this OS server.
