5.7.6 How to set up a work group for connection to the terminal bus
If you want to operate PC stations of PCS 7 in a work group, you have to check the settings
of the network configuration.
After installation of the operating system, the network profile "Public network" is configured by
default for the network connections. The network profile "Public network" is not approved for
the terminal bus in PCS 7.
Procedure
1. Select the menu command "Change adapter settings" in the Network and Sharing Center.
2. Select the network adapter that is to establish the connection to the terminal bus.
3. Use the shortcut menu to open the "Properties ..." dialog.
4. Make the following adjustments:
– Click "Configure". Select the "Power Management" tab and clear the "Allow the
computer to turn off this device to save power" check box. Click "OK".
– Assign a gateway address for the terminal bus in the properties for "Internet Protocol
Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)".
5. In the Network and Sharing Center, select the menu command "Change advanced sharing
settings".
The "Change sharing options for different network profiles" dialog box opens.
6. Expand the displayed information for the "Home or Work" network profile.
7. Select the following check boxes:
– Turn on network discovery
– Turn on file and printer sharing
– Disable "Public folder sharing"
Result
The active networks are displayed in the Network and Sharing Center.
● The network profile "Home or Work" has been selected for the terminal bus. A gateway
address has been entered in the properties of the network adapter.
● PC stations with several network adapters:
No changes are required for the system bus.
