5.3.3 Name of the PC station
The selection of the computer name is crucial to the project configuration. You specify the
computer name during installation of the operating system on the computer.
Specifying the name of the PC station
Note
Please note when configuring an OS or BATCH server and an engineering station that the
following names must be identical:
● Computer name
● Name of the PC station
Select short and descriptive computer names that provide some information about the role of
the PC station in the overall system.
Specifications:
● The computer name starts with a letter.
● The computer name must only contain letters and numbers.
● The computer name can contain up to 15 characters (limited by the operating system).
