PGCSIM
The operating software for the chromatographs
previously only functioned if a chromatograph was
connected to the control unit.
PGCSIM
is a separate
software package and simulates a chromatograph
in the control unit. It is then possible, without a
connected chromatograph, to:
Evaluate and reintegrate runs which have been ex-
ecuted e.g. during the night
Generate and optimize methods
Demonstrate the operating software
Practice operation.
Installing PGCSIM
Insert the
PGCSIM
diskette into the drive a: and type in:
a:
install
The installation generates the file SIM.BAT.
Optimizing the memory
In certain operation situations, the operating software
requires almost the complete main memory of 640 kB.
To ensure that the operating software is executed cor-
rectly, no TSR programs must be loaded in the main
memory. Other TSR programs and a number of pro-
grams belonging to the operating software can be
loaded into the upper memory.
If you wish to learn more on the memory in the control
unit, refer to your MS-DOS manual or ask our servic-
ing department. The following points are important in
this context:
The file
CONFIG.SYS
The device drivers
HIMEM.SYS
and
EMM386.EXE
and their parameter settings
The commands
DOS=HIGH,UMB
and
DEVICEHIGH
for uploading programs
The file
AUTOEXEC.BAT
The command
LH
for uploading programs
You should upload the following programs of the simu-
lation software:
LPRINT/CPRINT
PGCSIM (this is the largest)
SIMRES
PGCSIM: Simulation of chromatographs
Checking the memory assignments
The current memory assignments of your control unit
are indicated by the
DOS
command
MEM
. Type in the
following command following the
DOS
prompt:
mem /c |more
Please observe the vertical line (ASCII 124) in front of
more!
The file SIM.BAT
The file
SIM.BAT
is regenerated when you install
PGCSIM
. If you have modified
SIM.BAT
in an old ver-
sion, you must enter these modifications again in the
new
SIM.BAT
. Use the
MS-DOS
editor to do this.
The commands in
SIM.BAT
The file
SIM.BAT
appears as follows after installation:
PGCSIM T2
INITCHRO 1 0
IF ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO EXIT
SIMRES
CD C:\BEDI
REM LPRINT c500
CALL SWITCH
:EXIT
The meaning of the program names
PGCSIM
TSR program, simulates the
chromatograph and communicates
with the operating functions.
Corresponds to ChromLAN.
T2 = Process
T3 = Laboratory
T3 A = Laboratory with autosampler
INITCHRO
Normally checks how many
chromatographs are connected to the
control unit. It defines this during the
simulation.
SIMRES
TSR program, coordinates e.g.
printing processes
LPRINT
TSR program for printing of results,
chromatogram and
BASIC
texts
LAN
Produces colored displays for
network summary
SWITCH
Produces colored displays for
operation
Starting the simulation
Select the directory bedi, and type in
sim
The operating software is started as usual.
RETURN
