Networking
Overview
How to configure a PROFIBUS subnet or Ethernet subnet appropriately for your
application is described in the SIMOTION SCOUT operating instructions, order
number: see bibliography.
7.1 Designing a PROFIBUS subnet
device = node
Agreement: In the following description, all devices that you connect in a subnet
are referred to as nodes.
7.1.1 Requirements
PROFIBUS addresses
So that all nodes can communicate with each other, you must assign a “PROFI-
BUS address” to them before they are networked.
You set this PROFIBUS address individually for each node using the PG/PC (in the
case of some PROFIBUS DP slaves, also via the switch on the slave as well).
On the C230-2, address 2 and baud rate 1.5 Mbit/s are parameterized as default
settings for both PROFIBUS DP interfaces, X8 and X9.
Tip: Mark the set address on the housings of all nodes in a subnet. In this way,
you will always be able to see which nodes have which address in your system.
For each PROFIBUS subnet, “highest PROFIBUS addresses” are preset. You can
change these.
