General
Removal of the engine assembly is accomplished by
removing the hood and disconnecting the battery, front
PTO, throttle control cables, fuel lines, wiring harnesses,
hydrostatic unit drive shaft, radiator (where applicable),
and engine mounting hardware. Installation is the
reverse of this procedure.
Engine dry weight (approximately) 95 lbs.

WARNING
Before beginning any service work, turn the PTO
OFF, set the parking brake, turn the ignition
switch OFF and remove the key. Disconnect the
spark plug wire(s) on gas engine models, and
disconnect negative battery cable.
Engine Removal
1. Remove the hood (refer to Section 14, HOOD, DASH
& FOOT REST SERVICE).
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable (A, Figure 20)
from the battery. Disconnect the positive battery
cable (B) from the battery.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable (C) from the
front engine cover.
4. Remove the fuel line (D) on the left side of the
engine, and plug the line to prevent spillage of fuel.
WARNING
DO NOT perform the next step in the presence of
open flames, sparks, or smoking materials.
Gasoline is highly flammable, and could result in
explosion or fire causing death or serious injury.
