Knob Replacement
TWO SPEED CONTROL KNOB
1. The two speed control knob (F, Figure 1) is pressed
onto the end of the two speed control lever and may
be removed by placing a 7/16" open end box wrench
under the knob and tapping the wrench outward with
a hammer or rubber mallet (Figure 2).
Knobs that resist removal with this method may be
heated with a heat gun or blow dryer to expand the
knob slightly and separate it from the end of the two
speed control lever.
NOTE: Do not overheat the knob as this may distort the
part or cause melting, and could prevent a secure fit
when reattaching the knob. Use a low heat setting when
using a heat gun, and keep the gun 4" to 6" away from
the knob while moving it back and forth to provide even
heating.
2. Slide the knob off the two speed control lever, and
check for cracks or excessive wear, replace as nec-
essary.
CRUISE CONTROL KNOB
The cruise control knob (E, Figure 1) cannot be removed
from the control lever. Replace cruise control lever and
knob as an assembly.
PARKING BRAKE KNOB
The parking brake knob (G, Figure 1) is threaded onto
the parking brake rod. Loosen the jam nut and then turn
the knob counterclockwise to remove it.
THROTTLE CONTROL KNOB
The throttle control knob (B, Figure 1) snaps onto the
throttle lever. To remove the knob, pull it straight off the
lever. To reinstall, press onto the lever and drive into
place with a rubber mallet.
WARNING
Before beginning any service work, turn the PTO
off,set the parking brake, turn the ignition switch
off, remove the key, disconnect the spark plug
wire, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
WARNING
Never use a heat gun or blow dryer if flammable
vapors are present, as the heating element could
ignite the vapor and cause a fire or explosion.
