7. First start-up
Inspect all electrical and hydraulic connections before putting
the product into operation.
The lubricant reservoir must be filled with clean lubricant
without introducing bubbles. The gear pump unit should be
operated only approx. 15 min. after filling in order to allow
possible air pockets to escape. Air inclusions in the lubricant
adversely affect the function of the devices and impair the
reliability of lubricant delivery, which can result in damage to
the bearings that are being lubricated.
Before first start-up, bleed the centralized lubrication system
as described in "Venting an MKU/MKF/MKL centralized
lubrication system" in Chapter 6.6 Attachment of a gear pump
unit.
Proceed as follows for first start-up:
• Check all connections for tight fit
• Check that sufficient lubricant is present in the lubricant
reservoir
• Start the system
The functional check on the gear pump unit is performed as
follows:
• When the machine is at a standstill, check whether signals are
exchanged properly between the machine and the gear pump
unit
• If available, trigger an interim lubrication using the
pushbutton
