5.2-7 Wire Rope Inspection
NOTE
This inspection procedure must be done at the
start of the rst 10th year of boom cable life or
every 2 years if boom cable is not replaced after
initial inspection.
Check wire rope cables for wear or damage. Any
cable with broken wires, severe corrosion, excessive
stretch, deformed strands, variations in diameter
(necking), or any change from its normal appearance,
must be replaced. If any cable is found to be in need
of replacement, the entire cable set must be replaced
immediately. Refer to gures below.

Sheave Inspection
Check sheaves (pulleys) for wear or damage, For
example, wobble (tilt), cracks, loose on pin, or
excessive noise during operation.
Sheave Pins Inspection
Check for loose or missing sheave (pulley) pins.
