Why won't my Stihl HLA 86 start?

Several factors can prevent your Stihl Trimmer from starting: the battery may have a low charge (recharge it fully), it might be too hot or too cold (remove the battery and allow it to cool down or warm up), there may be no electrical contact between the trimmer and battery (remove the battery and clean the contacts in the battery compartment before refitting it), the trimmer or battery could be damp (allow them to dry), the cutting blades may not run freely (spray both sides of the blades with STIHL resin solvent), the trimmer might be too hot (remove the battery and let the trimmer cool down), there may be a malfunction in the battery (remove and reinsert the battery), or there could be a general malfunction in the trimmer (remove the battery, clean the contacts, refit the battery).
