4.5 EXCAVATION
Working condition
When digging lengthways with backhoe, make the drive wheel
backward and guide wheel forward.
When quarrying, in the consideration of safety, the drive wheel
should be rearward and the idler should be forward.
Two pilot handles control (As figure 4.5.2) refer to Chapter 2.8
pilot control switch handle.

Composite movement of excavator
(1) When the machine slews, the composite movements of boom and bucket can be operated.
(2) Arm can be extended or retracted when digging with the bucket, boom cab be lowered when
digging with the arm.
(3) Besides the co-operation between right and left handles, pull either of handles to any diagonal
orientation (45
direction), it can achieve the adjacent two composite movements.
Swing platform brake
Release slewing control handle, return it to neutral position, it will bring sufficient force to brake the
platform. And operate the handle in reverse direction may bring more brake torque.
Note for excavation
(1) Operator must wear safety helmet and work clothes, make sure the safety of working area,
then start machine to work.
(2) During digging work, the dozer blade should be placed on ground.
(3) During excavation, especially deep digging work, pay attention to avoid bucket teeth
colliding with dozer blade, and also avoid boom cylinder colliding with track shoe.
(4) Other people are not permitted to stand on the machine or within the range of 8m away
from working radius. When begin to work or transport with full load, operator should ring horn
to warn.
