The I
2
C module (in the CC2533 and CC2541) provides an interface between the device and
I
2
C-compatible devices connected by the two-wire I
2
C serial bus. External components attached to the I
2
C
bus serially transmit and/or receive serial data to/from the I
2
C module through the two-wire I
2
C interface.
The I
2
C module features include:
• Compliance with the I
2
C specification v2.1 (published by Philips Semiconductor)
• 7-bit device addressing modes
• General call
• START/RESTART/STOP
• Multi-master transmitter/receiver mode
• Slave receiver/transmitter mode
• Standard mode up to 100-kbps and fast mode up to 400-kbps support
Figure 20-1 shows the block diagram of the I
2
C module.
On the CC2533 and CC2541, the I
2
C module is connected to pins 2 and 3 and uses the P2 interrupt to the
CPU. Pins 2 and 3 can alternatively be controlled as two GPIO pins if they are not used by the I
2
C
module.
