MAINTENANCE MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
1. General
This manual includes all of the information required for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the equipment
concerned. The operations must be done by the appropriate maintenance facility using the appropriate
special tools and test equipment as required.
This manual does not cover standard techniques, maintenance intervals nor details which are likely to vary
depending on the shop facilities available.
2. Format
The page numbering system in the manual consists of number blocks as follows:
1 - 99 Description and operation
101 - 199 Testing and fault isolation
201 - 299 Maintenance operations
301 - 399 Disassembly
401 - 499 Cleaning
501 - 599 Checks
601 - 699 Repair
701 - 799 Assembly and storage
801 - 899 Fits and clearances
901 - 999 Special tools, fixtures and equipment
1001 - 1099 Illustrated parts list
1101 - 1109 Strapping-in procedures
1111 - 1119 Operating controls
NOTE
In addition to the use of ATA 100 page numbering, Martin-Baker have introduced additional page
numbering 1101 - 1109 and 1111 - 1119. This has been done to let Strapping-procedures and Pilot’s
notes be incorporated in this manual to ease the presentation of the initial draft information.
In general, all values are expressed in units of the Imperial system (feet, inches, lbs, ozs) or multiples and
sub-multiples thereof, followed by units of the metric system in brackets.
3. Revision
With each revision issued for the manual, detailed instructions are supplied cross-referring to the page
numbers concerned for insertion and deletion. The revised, added or deleted material is indicated by a vertical
change bar printed in the margin. Pages marked with an asterisk (*) on the List of Effective Pages indicate
those pages affected by the latest revision.
4. Special Tools and Support Equipment
No special tools or test equipment are required.
5. Maintenance
A. General
The mission seat is designed so all Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) are easily replaced without the use of
special tools.
The seat assembly requires visual and functional checks. These checks are split into “before flight checks”
and checks at “500 flight hours or yearly” (whichever occurs first). Refer to “CHECKS” on page 501.
Scheduled lubrication is not necessary as dry film lubricant is used during assembly.
