MAINTENANCE MANUAL
WARNING WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED MOVING THE SEAT TO A NEW POSITION, MAKE
SURE IT IS LOCKED IN POSITION. IF THE SEAT IS NOT LOCKED IT CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY IF A FORCE IS APPLIED. IF THE SEAT MOVES SUDDENLY, IT CAN
KILL OR CAUSE INJURY.
(b) Release the handle for the fore/aft lever (355) and make sure the seat locks in the selected po-
sition. At the same time make sure the lever returns to the DOWN position when released.
CAUTION
YOU MUST SIT IN THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU OPERATE THE RECLINE
MECHANISM. THE RECLINE MECHANISM HAS TWO GAS SPRINGS AND CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY. DAMAGE TO THE SEAT CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT SIT IN THE
BUCKET ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU ADJUST THE RECLINE MECHANISM.
(3) Recline adjustment lever.
(Ref. IPL Fig. 1, Sheets 8 and 9)
(a) Sit in the seat and lift and hold the handle for the recline adjustment lever (375) UP, then recline
the seat back (350). Make sure seat back moves and the lever operates with normal force. If the
force required is more than normal, do the necessary maintenance, refer to “TESTING AND
FAULT ISOLATION” on page 101.
(b) Make sure the seat back (350) can be adjusted through its full range. At the same time, make
sure the lever returns to the DOWN position when released. Get out of the seat.
WARNING
IF A RECLINE PLUNGER FAILS TO CORRECTLY ENGAGE THE RELATED RACK
THE SEAT MUST BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE. IF THE SEAT IS NOT REMOVED
FROM SERVICE, INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE SEAT CAN OCCUR.
(4) Rotate lever.
(a) Push and hold the rotate adjustment lever (645) REARWARDS, then turn the seat 360 degrees.
Make sure the lever operates with normal force. If the force required is more than normal, do the
necessary maintenance, refer to “TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION” on page 101.
WARNING
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED MOVING THE SEAT TO A NEW POSITION, MAKE
SURE IT IS LOCKED TO THE CARRIAGE FLOOR. IF THE SEAT IS NOT LOCKED IT
CAN MOVE SUDDENLY IF A FORCE IS APPLIED. IF THE SEAT MOVES
SUDDENLY, IT CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY.
(b) Release the rotate lever (645), make sure the locking plunger (505) engages the carriage floor
(170).
F. Armrests.

WARNING
GRIP THE ARMRESTS ON THE SIDES WHEN YOU MOVE THEM. IF YOU CURL YOUR
FINGERS AROUND THE ARMRESTS YOU CAN TRAP YOUR FINGERS BETWEEN THE
ARMREST AND THE SEAT BODY, WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOUR FINGE
RS.

e operation of the armrests.
(a) Move each armrest (580) and spigot (625) to the OUTBOARD position. Make sure the detent
plungers (630) prevent initial outboard movement.
