NOTE The vertical lock plungers are visible and can be visually inspected without having to remove
them from the lower frames. If there are any signs of wear, or if the vertical lock plungers need
cleaning, the vertical lock plungers will have to be removed from the lower frame.
(2) If necessary, remove the vertical lock plungers (505), refer to “DISASSEMBLY” on page 301.
(3) Clean the removed parts.
(a) Clean the vertical lock plungers (505), springs (510), vertical lock housings (515) and the ends
of the vertical cable assembly (435). Refer to “CLEANING” on page 401.
(4) Examine the removed parts.
(a) Examine the vertical lock plungers (505) for damage or worn surface coating.
(b) Examine the springs (510) for damage or distortion.
(c) Examine the vertical lock housing (515) for damage or corrosion.
(d) Examine the mating ends of the vertical cable assembly (425) for damage.
(5) Install the vertical lock plungers (505), refer to “ASSEMBLY AND STORAGE” on page 701.
(6) Operate and release the raise/lower lever (380), make sure each vertical lock plunger (555) retracts
and extends correctly.
(7) When the raise/lower lever (380) is released, make sure the outboard end of each vertical lock
plunger (505) is approximately flush with the related side frame on the bucket assembly (745).
L. Lever operation.
(1) Check the lever operation:
(Ref. IPL Fig. 1, Sheets 4, 5, 6, 8, 11 and 14)
(a) Operate the armrest screws (585), make sure the armrest angle adjusts freely UP and DOWN.
WARNING
YOU MUST SIT IN THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU ADJUST THE SEAT
HEIGHT. THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY HAS TWO GAS SPRINGS AND CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY. YOU CAN BE INJURED IF YOU DO NOT SIT IN THE BUCKET
ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU ADJUST THE SEAT HEIGHT.
(b) Sit in the seat.
(c) Operate the raise/lower lever (380) and make sure the two vertical locking plungers (505) retract
freely.
(d) Operate the fore/aft lever (355) and make sure the two floor locking plungers (195) retract freely.
(e) Operate the recline lever (375) and make sure the two seat recline plungers (720) retract freely.
(f) Operate the rotate lever (645) and make sure the locking plunger (500) retracts freely.
(g) If a plunger does not retract, refer to “TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION” on page 101.
