I. Examine the floor locking plungers.
(Ref. Fig. 1 and IPL Fig. 1, Sheets 8 and 14)
(1) Examine the floor locking plungers.
(a) Examine the floor locking plungers (195) and their receptacles in the carriage floor (170) for dam-
age, distortion and wear.
(b) Examine the floor locking plungers (195) for security of attachment.
(2) Measure the protrusion of the floor locking plungers (195) as follows:
(a) Push each of the floor locking plungers (195) inwards, make sure the plunger is in contact with
the spring (200).
(b) Use a digital calliper to measure the protrusion of the floor locking plungers (195). Make sure the
protrusion is correct. (Refer to Fig. 1).
(c) Operate the fore/aft adjustment lever (355) and make sure the two floor locking plungers (195)
retract. Use a digital calliper to measure the retraction of the foot locking plungers (195). Make
sure the retraction is correct. (Refer to Fig. 1).
(3) Position the seat on its feet.
J. Examine the seat recline plungers.
(Ref. Fig. 1 and IPL Fig. 1, Sheets 6, 8 and 9)
(1) Operate and release the recline adjustment lever (375), make sure each recline locking plunger (720)
retracts and extends correctly.
NOTE
When measuring, give a positive value for plungers protruding from the outer surface of the side
frame, and a negative value for a plunger that is sub-surface.
(2) When the recline adjustment lever (375) is released, use a digital calliper to measure the distance
between the outer face of each recline plunger (720) and the outer surface of the related side frame
on the backrest assembly (350). Make sure the average measurement is not less than -0.070 in.
(1.78 mm).
(3) Examine the recline locking plungers (720) as far as possible for damage or corrosion.
K. Examine the vertical lock plungers.
(Ref. Fig. 1 and IPL Fig. 1, Sheets 8, 9 and 11)
WARNING
YOU MUST SIT IN THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU ADJUST THE SEAT
HEIGHT. THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY HAS TWO GAS SPRINGS AND CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY. YOU CAN BE INJURED IF YOU DO NOT SIT IN THE BUCKET ASSEMBLY
WHEN YOU ADJUST THE SEAT HEIGHT.
(1) Sit in the seat and lift the raise/lower lever (380) to move the bucket assembly UP to the top position.
