CheckingtheMismatch
BetweenCuttingUnits
Duetodifferencesingrassconditionsandthe
counterbalancesettingofthetractionunit,itisadvised
thatgrassbecutandappearancecheckedbeforeformal
cuttingisstarted.
1.Setallcuttingunitstothedesiredheightofcut;
refertoAdjustingtheHeightofCut.
2.Checkandadjustfrontandreartractortirepressure.
Thecorrectairpressureinthefronttiresis50psi
(345kPa)andthereartiresis30psi(207kPa).
3.Checkandadjustallcastortirepressuresto50psi
(345kPa).
4.Checkliftandcounterbalancepressureswithengine
athighidleusingtestportsdenedinHydraulic
SystemsTestPorts.Adjustasrequired.
5.Checkforbentblades;refertoCheckingforaBent
BladeprocedureinMowerMaintenance.
6.Cutgrassinatestareatodetermineifallcutting
unitsarecuttingatthesameheight.
7.Ifcuttingunitadjustmentsarestillneeded,nda
atsurfaceusinga6foot(2m)orlongerstraight
edgetoensurethesurfaceisat.
8.Toeasemeasuringbladeplane,raisetheheightof
cuttothehighestposition;refertoAdjustingthe
HeightofCut.
9.Lowercuttingunitsontotheatsurface.Remove
thecoversfromthetopofthecuttingunits.
SideCuttingUnits
1.Rotatebladeofeachspindleuntiltheendsface
forwardandbackward
2.Fortheoutsidebladespindleonly,equallyadjustthe
1/8inchshimsonthefrontcastorforkstomatch
thedesiredheightofcut
3.Measurefromoortothefronttipofthecutting
blade.
4.Rotatetheblade180°andmeasurefromoorto
thetipofthecuttingblade.
5.Therearofthebladeshouldbe.300inch(7.5mm)
higherthanthefront.Ifadjustmentisrequired,
adjust1/8inchshimsonrearcastorforks.
MatchingHeightOfCutBetweenCuttingUnits
1.Positionbladesidetosideonoutsidespindleof
bothsidecuttingunits.Measurefromtheoor
tothetipofthecuttingedgeonbothunitsand
compare.Thesenumbersshouldbewithin1/8inch
(3mm)ofeachother.Makenoadjustmentatthis
time.
2.Positionbladesidetosideoninsidespindleofside
cuttingunitandcorrespondingoutsidespindleof
frontcuttingunit.Measurefromtheoortothetip
ofthecuttingedgeoninsideedgeofsidecutting
unittocorrespondingoutsideedgeoffrontcutting
unitandcompare.
Note:Thesidecuttingunitcastorwheelsshould
remainonthegroundwithcounterbalanceapplied.
Note:Ifadjustmentsneedtobemadetomatchthe
cutbetweenthefrontandsidecuttingunits,make
theadjustmentstothesidecuttingunitsonly.
3.Iftheinsideedgeofthesidecuttingunitistoohigh
relativetotheoutsideedgeofthefrontcuttingunit,
removeone1/8inchshimfromthebottomof
thefrontinsidecastorarmonthesidecuttingunit
(
Figure32andFigure33).Recheckmeasurement
betweenoutsideedgesofbothsidecuttingunits
andinsideedgeofsidecuttingunittooutsideedge
offrontcuttingunit.
4.Ifinsideedgeisstilltoohigh,removeanadditional
1/8inchshimfrombottomoffrontinsidecastor
armofthesidecuttingunitandone1/8inchshim
fromthefrontoutsidecastorarmofthesidecutting
unit(
Figure32andFigure33).
5.Iftheinsideedgeofthesidecuttingunitistoo
lowrelativetotheoutsideedgeofthefrontcutting
unit,addone1/8inchshimtothebottomofthe
frontinsidecastorarmonthesidecuttingunit
(
Figure32andFigure33).Checkmeasurement
betweenoutsideedgesofbothsidecuttingunits
andinsideedgeofsidecuttingunittooutsideedge
offrontcuttingunit.
6.Ifinsideedgeisstilltoolow,addanadditional1/8
inchshimtothebottomoffrontinsidecastorarm
ofthesidecuttingunitandaddone1/8inchshim
tothefrontoutsidecastorarmofthesidecutting
unit.
7.Oncecuttingheightmatchesattheedgesoffront
andsidecuttingunits,verifythatsidecuttingunit
pitchisstill.300inch(7.6mm).Adjustasnecessary.
