Performthefollowingstepswithoutinterruption.Oncethethread
lockingcompoundisapplied,youhaveonlyafewminutesbefore
thecuringprocesswillinuencethebearinglocknuttorque.
12.Installthebearinglocknut:
A.Applyhighstrengththreadlockingcompound(Loctite263orequivalent)
andinstallthelocknut.
B.Tightenthelocknutto150N·m(110ft−lb).
C.Rotatethehousingonthespindleafewrevolutionstoalignthebearings.
D.Tightenthelocknutto200N·m(150ft−lb).
E.Rotatethehousingonthespindleafewrevolutionstoseatthebearings.
IMPORTANT
Ifinstallingthebearingnutwiththespindleinstalledonmachine,
haveanassistantholdthehousingrmlyinpositionduringthe
followingstep.
F.Loosenthelocknutcompletely,thentightento122N·m(90ft−lb).
IMPORTANT
Continuetotightenthelocknutuntilitalignswithoneofthe
lockingwashertabs.DoNotloosenthelocknuttoalignitwith
thelockingwashertabs.
G.Securethelocknutbybendingoneofthelockingwashertabsintoa
slotinthelocknut.
13.Installsecondarycarrierandprimarycarriermakingsurethatcarriergear
teethalignwithringgearandsplineonspindleshaft.
14.Ifprimarygear(item25)wasremovedfromdriveshaft,slidegearontoshaft
andsecurewithretainingrings.
15.Installdriveshaftassembly(items24−26)makingsurethatdriveshaftspline
alignswithcarriergears.
16.Covertheouterfaceofthethrustplatewithgreaseandtthrustplateonto
endcap.Makesurethatthrustplatetabsarecaptiveinendcap.
17.ApplyalightcoatofgreasetoanewO−ringandinstallitintheringgear
bore.AvoidpinchingorcuttingtheO−ringandinstalltheendcap.Usea
softmallettofullyseattheendcap.
18.Securetheendcapwiththeretainingring.Makesuretheretainingringis
fullyseatedintheringgroove.
19.Checkoperationofplanetarydrivebyhand.Withaconstantturningforce
applied,rotationoftheplanetaryshouldbeconsistent.Ifthereismoredrag
