 that are located on machines operated behind a master protective
cover/enclosure
No captive retaining elements are fitted on these covers as the risk potential
is classified as low. Usually, all parts remain in place for repairs at the instal-
lation location or in workshops.
Guards that need to be opened/removed by the operating company for main-
tenance purposes generally comprise the following covers:
 Covers on drive assemblies (e.g. protective covers/hoods for chain and
toothed belt drives)
 Covers on nip points if they have to be removed or opened for mainte-
nance purposes (e.g. protective covers for snub rollers)
 Bearing covers, covers on rotating parts (e.g. covers on drum bearings)
 Bottom conveyor track covers (e.g. perforated plates of the curves)

Precondition:
 Machine has been taken out of operation.
 Machine has been secured against being switched on again.

Increased risk of accident!
The bottom conveyor track cover can tip over and crush parts of the body.
 Secure the bottom conveyor track cover from falling.
Carry out the following work steps:
1. Loosen and move the joining elements (1) on both sides.
 The joining elements (1) remain in the cover (2).
