10 Description of the modes
10.1 IPPV
IPPV mode is used for mandatory, volume-controlled ventilation at
a fixed tidal volume. This mode is used on patients who have no
spontaneous breathing. However, a spontaneously breathing
patient can breathe deeply and freely during expiration. The set
maximum pressure limit (pMax) ensures the safety of the patient.
