Staining or Burning of Commutator
1.
Check to see if the commutator surface is stained or burnt.
2. If it is burnt, grind off with fine-grain sand paper.
Checking Commutator Wear
1.
Check
to
see if the contact face of the brush is scored.
2.
If scored, grind off with sand paper or
on
a lathe.
3.
If the commutator diameter must
be
ground to below the allowable limit, replace it.
