3. Lubrication
The fuel pump is lubricated with engine lube oil, which flows through the inlet
bore (OI, Fig. 2) into the lower housing (1) in the housing of the fuel pump unit.
Some of the engine lube oil lubricates the guide piston (9), roller pin (12) and
roller (11) through the spot faces, annular groove and bores in the guide piston (9).
Engine lube oil that flows down lubricates the surface of the cam.
Engine lube oil also flows through the oil bores (OB) in the upper housing (2) and the
pump cylinder (14) to lubricate the regulating sleeve (5).
Leakage fuel lubricates the pump plunger (15). The leakage fuel and the engine lube
oil from the regulating sleeve (5), flows through the drain bore (DB), into an internal
bore in the housing of the fuel pump unit.
